Join the horticulture staff of the Zilker Botanical Garden in maintaining the Butterfly Trail. This is an ongoing volunteer opportunity, but we request that you register yourself for all shifts you plan to attend. This opportunity is 18+ and requires an application process described below!

This volunteer role is for dedicated, experienced gardeners who want to learn more about pollinator plants and wildflowers. We need volunteers who can commit to volunteering in butterfly gardens at least one Wednesday per month on an ongoing basis. You will be trained by our butterfly gardener to identify native plants and wildflowers so we are looking for people who will be available to regularly volunteer for at least 6 months.
This volunteer opportunity will vary by week and could involve:
- Removing soil from a garden bed to prep the bed for replanting
- Planting
- Removing brush
- Mulching
- Weeding
- Pruning
- Maintenance of signage
Please arrive prepared to work outdoors with work gloves, closed-toed shoes, a full water bottle, and sun hat.
